Commercial renovations come with their own set of challenges — and this Norristown, PA project had a big one right from the start. Premier Barber Institute occupied the first floor of their building and needed to expand upward, but the second floor had previously been a dry cleaning facility with a subfloor that varied by as much as 5 inches across its surface.
Before a single wall could go up, Haussmann Builders had to level the entire floor — a critical and technically demanding step that set the foundation for everything that followed. Once the subfloor was corrected, we delivered a complete commercial build-out that transformed the raw second floor into a sophisticated, multi-room educational facility.
The centerpiece of the renovation is a dramatic main hall featuring the building's original wood roof trusses, now cleaned, stained, and exposed against a crisp white ceiling — with skylights bringing in natural daylight and linear LED lighting illuminating the space beautifully.
Bold red barn-style sliding doors separate the main hall from the theory classrooms, adding a striking design element that reinforces the school's brand identity. The classroom spaces feature drop ceilings with LED panel lighting, dark wood-look luxury vinyl plank flooring that runs continuously throughout the entire floor, wall-mounted TVs, whiteboards, and flexible furniture layouts.
A dedicated student locker area and break station complete the facility. The result is a professional, energetic learning environment that reflects the ambition of Premier Barber Institute.
