Every now and then, a project comes along that reminds you why you love this work. This Glenside, PA attic conversion is one of those projects.
What was once a dark, unused storage area tucked under the roofline is now a breathtaking full bathroom that feels like a private retreat. Haussmann Builders reimagined the entire space from the studs up — working within the natural slope of the roof to design a layout that turns architectural constraints into design features.
The centerpiece is a spacious 6x6 walk-in shower lined with classic white subway tile, black hexagon floor tile, and a warm teak ceiling that follows the pitch of the roofline.
The original arched window opening was carefully honored — but the window itself was fully replaced with a custom-made arch window, a genuinely difficult fabrication and installation that required precision craftsmanship to execute properly.
The result lets in natural light and garden views while preserving the home's historic character in a way that a standard replacement window simply couldn't. A double navy vanity with Carrara marble countertop, brushed gold fixtures, a backlit LED mirror, and elegant brass sconce lighting complete the space with a timeless, sophisticated feel.
Original hardwood floors were kept intact, grounding the room in the home's history.
